Local Ministries

Good News Club

The Good News Clubs® take place in neighborhood settings such as homes, schools and community centers all over the world and are designed to bring the Gospel of Christ to children on their level in their environment.

5-Day Club

Locally, 5-Day Clubs are held each summer for six weeks beginning mid June through the first week of August.

In addition, the chapter hosts two one-week Day Camp sessions at the Shorewood campus. Activities include lots of outdoor fun and games, lunch, the playground, crafts, Friday Fun Fair, and a daily 5-Day Club program. The camp runs from Noon to 3:00pm each day.

CYIA

Christian Youth in Action is CEF’s training program designed for young people in high school and college who would desire to be used of the Lord to reach boys and girls with the gospel of the Lord Jesus. Child Evangelism Fellowship offers an opportunity this summer for an extremely meaningful, life-changing missions experience right here in Will, Grundy, and Kankakee Counties. If you are at least 14 years old you could be trained to be a summer missionary. Attendance at the Illinois Summer Missionary Training School is mandatory and is scheduled for two weeks in June at Camp Good News.

Truth Chasers Club

The Truth Chasers Club, formerly the CEF Mailbox Club™, is an exciting through-the-mail discipleship ministry for children and adults. For more information about this ministry, please go here.

Teacher Training

The Three Rivers Chapter is authorized by the Children’s Ministries Institute® in Missouri to offer both levels of Teaching Children Effectively™. The emphasis of Level 1 is how to more effectively evangelize children by using the Wordless Book. Also offered in the 30-hour course are topics such as: classroom discipline, teaching an evangelistic Bible lesson, how to teach a memory verse, how to effectively use music in the club hour, as well as how to counsel children for salvation.

Level 2, also a 30-hour course, emphasizes how to disciple and minister to children who already know the Lord Jesus as Savior. Special attention is given to teaching missions, the importance of a child’s devotional life, how to teach a saved child Bible lesson, and helpful tips to share with saved children concerning witnessing. Successful completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite.

Both levels require in-class and outside-of-class practicums.

The chapter is also equipped to offer specialized training for teaching a Good News Club or how to use the Wordless Book. For schedules and training opportunities call the chapter office at 815.741.0366.
